[SC/HC] Simple like vanilla lightning/physical build
With Bis gear:
1500-2000 life
700 mana
26k chain lightning dmg
44k lightning dmg
77 all res
~450% mf including base

Skill Points:
Put points into charged bolt and static for leveling.
Once you get to lvl 80 max charged bolt, lightning, chain lightning and lightning mastery.
1 to warmth
1 to teleport - get to .04 second cool-down
Put rest of points into shiver armor and discharge

Stats:
Stength - enough for gear
Dexterity - enough for gear
Vitality - dump all you points here
Energy - dump some points in here chain lightning cost a lot of mana to cast.

Gear:
Helm - Shako, Kira's Guardian and Griffons eye
Griffons eye is best in slot because of +1 skills, lightning damage, lightning pierce and fcr. The two other choices work great as well.

Chest - The Spirit Shroud, skin of vipermagi, Tal Rasha's Howling Wind, Ormus Robes (Chain lightning), Ifrit's Hearse.
Ifrit's is best in slot because it is part of the secrets of solitude set which you should be looking for. It has Ele damage and Hp%. When you get 2 pieces of the secret set you get 25% all res, 3 pieces +1 skills, 4 pieces -10% to enemy elemental resistance. Plus you get the full set bonus which is +3 to sorc skills, 10% fcr, 10 all attributes and 35% mana regen.

Boots - Inferno Stride, War travelers, Dreamers Gait (lightning skill) and crafted/rare boots with tri res, magic res and fhr.
Dreamer's Gait and crafted boots are the best in slot.

Gloves - Magefist, Frostburn and rare/crafted gloves
Best in slot is crafted gloves with strength, fhr, and tri res.

Belt - Trang oul's girth, Rare/crafted, arachnid mesh and gretana.
Gretana is best in slot because it has life%, 50% of life converted to lightning damage to enemies around you (this is really nice for killing annoying minions charging at you) and conduction on kill for more lightning pierce and mastery.

Amulet - Tal Rasha's Ajudication, Telling of beads, Auriel's bliss, Mara's Kaleidoscope, Alcyone's Star and rare,crafted amulet with all res, +3 skills, mana on kill, Strength and magic res.
best in slot are Auriel's Bliss, Mara's Kaleidoscope and rare/crafted amulet.

Rings - Ghaa's Ward, Stone of Jordan, Lorell's Stone, Eon Band, Equilibrium (conductivity), Dhul's Sphere and Halasan Odyssey.
Best in slot are Eon Band for curse immunity, all res, all stats and maybe other mods I'm not aware of as I've never seen one. Dhul's Sphere and Halasan odyssey for plus skills, fcr and set bonuses.

Shield - Akkad Evocation, Lidless Wall, The Ward, Spirit Ward and Son of Esu and Spirit runeword.
Akkad Evocation is best in slot here for set bonus.

Weapon - Vorakh's Spark, Vessel of Rivia, Orovoromous, The Oculus, The Cascade, Divine Dream, Eschuta's Temper, Amm's Eclipse and Void barrier.
Imo Eschuta's is best in slot but I haven't tested all the orbs so I could be wrong. A rare/crafted orb could be pretty nice also.
To take care of lightning immunes weapon switch to Amm's Eclipse to convert 100% of lightning damage to physical. Pair it with a rhyme shield for mf. when not using Amm's use an Ali Baba with Eth runes socketed for high mf to kill bosses

Collect all the charms. The best charm components for this build are thundergod's glyph 4-5% lightning damage, heart of ankara 1% life regen, magic res glyphs, mana/health on kill glyphs, -enemy lightning res and magic find.

What to socket items with:
Rainbow facets with chain lightning and nova, illyeria's tear for 2% max res and ele res and um runes for res troubles.

Merc setups:
Act 2 mercs
Holy freeze or defiance - I prefer holyfreeze but defiance would be good for HC
Weapon - Stormspire socketed with shael
Armor - Fortitude rune word in high armor ethereal base like kraken shell or saintly plate
Helm - Ahgrok or vampire gaze

Inner charge
Weapon - Blade of the ammuit with 5 to inner charge
Armor - Stone/solitude runewords
Helm - Griffon's eye, question, lore or dream.
